You might remember Warren Smith, the high school teacher who was fired for a viral video of a class discussion where he pushed his students to think critically about their criticism of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.
Incidentally, Smith’s YouTube channel, Secret Scholar Society, includes videos like this plus commentary on current events and politics.
Well, Smith hasn’t stopped pushing students to think critically about their views. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out.
This time, it was after a student summit where he was talking to students and a reporter covering the event sat down to talk to him. She is a college graduate.
In the YouTube caption, Smith writes, “A reporter claims ‘it is not possible to be racist toward white people’ A few simple questions cause her to hit a logical dead end and end the interview completely. This is one of the most important debates I have ever captured on camera.”
The video is astonishing–she is firmly convinced of her position on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), but cannot clearly define it.
She also cannot seem to comprehend what Smith is asking her.
This young woman doesn’t seem to realize that equality of outcomes (equity) is inherently racist and in opposition to equality of opportunity (equality).
In the 9-minute video, she clearly can’t follow the conversation.

She’s supposed to be a REPORTER. Words should be her wheelhouse, and yet… she can’t seem to understand or use them.
This seems like a good spot to put in one of my favorite quotes by the great Christian author, Malcom Muggeridge:
