For anyone too busy enjoying their summer to keep up with the latest WNBA drama, this cartoon will need a little unpacking.
Sophie Cunningham has been very much in the spotlight, both because of her talent, and the failure of the league to protect her from what looks to he casual observer like malicious intent-to-injure attacks. She was featured in an ESPN piece that was put together earlier this year. The topic of men in women’s sports came up. She took the very reasonable position of saying girls should not have to compete against guys, and should be protected in the locker room.
Activists kicked up a stink.
Then someone found an old clip by Trump saying he would be the best WNBA coach ever. He’d get Lebron to say he’s a girl and he’d never lose a game.
(It’s worth noting that in March, the WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement said that only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA, but did not stipulate if the category ‘women’ did or did not apply to male-to-female transgenders.)
Two days after the Trump clip came back, two athletes — Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White — declared their eligibility for the WNBA draft. That sent the league into damage control mode. They had a meeting. Declared Freedom and White to be bad-faith applicants, and are still figuring out how to move forward with the policy. They’re caught between a rock and a hard place, and they seem to know it. If they affirm dudes in dresses, the league might as well change the name entirely. If they refuse to do so, they will face the wrath of the activist left.
The rest of us will just point and laugh, if we bother to look their way at all.
Not one to pass up such low-hanging opportunities for satire, our own Albin Sadar had thoughts about one future athlete that could be the #1 Overall draft pick. (The cartoon debuted on American Thinker, and is republished with permission.)

And can you IMAGNE the endorsement opportunities?
Even the hair care and razors alone!
