Soccer was never supposed to be a sport in which Team USA made the big show, let alone one in which they racked up wins in the elimination rounds. But here we are.
You don’t have to be a soccer fan to smile at what’s happening as America hosts the World Cup championships on America’s 250. It was back in 2018 when North America was announced as host of the 2026 championship. (See: ESPN June 2018) Trump made sure the world knew he played a role in it, sure, but it was scheduled for 2026, long after it was assumed he would have taken his final bow, politically speaking.
Trump is a president whose entire life has been spent perfecting the art of promotion of one sort or another. There’s no way he could have expected to be president in America’s 250th birthday party, but whaddaya know, here he is, smack in the middle of it while literally the whole world has turned its attention the the sport they know best.
While all the usual suspects on the political left and establishment media spend their energy on telling the world how horrible America is, that work has been undone by ordinary sports fans from around the world who came to America and found out for themselves why ordinary workaday Americans are so proud of the place they call home. (And Air Conditioning, too!)
For years, we watched the left from a now-discredited secular subversive movement use kneeling as a subversive act to bully ordinary people into agreeing that America is fundamentally bad and needed to be replaced with… whatever system the ‘Trained Marxists’ wanted to erect in its place.
Fast forward a few years to America’s 250th Birthday celebration and the script is flipped. Ordinary people are celebrating America again. And now, even that subversive act of kneeling has returned to its proper function.
