Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced on Tuesday that a Chinese-owned company will have to sell off more than 100 acres of agricultural land it owns in Arkansas, in the first-of-its-kind law in the U.S.
Syngenta — an agrichemical company headquartered in Switzerland but owned by Chinese Communist Party-controlled company ChemChina — owns 160 acres of land in the Bear State, according to Townhall.
Gov. Sanders is invoking the state’s new Act 636, which went into effect this year.
The act “prohibits certain foreign parties from acquiring any interest in Arkansas agricultural land, provides penalties for violations, [and] creates the Office of Agricultural Intelligence for information analysis and enforcement.”
“For far too long, in the name of tolerance, we’ve let dangerous governments infiltrate our country,” Gov. Sanders said. “Arkansas will tolerate them no longer.”
“Today, Arkansas is becoming the first state in the country to force a Chinese state-owned company to sell their farmland,” Sanders continued. “This isn’t about where you’re from, it’s about where your loyalties lie. We simply can’t trust those who pledge allegiance to a hostile foreign power.”
The same problem has cropped up in many other states and Republicans everywhere are beginning to become concerned that the Chinese government is taking ownership of too much land in the U.S. — especially farm land.
According to NPR, China now owns 380,000 acres of American land.
China is our self-appointed biggest enemy. Allowing her companies to buy our land is foolish and must be stopped.
