After the country has been deliberately flooded with so many illegal aliens for reasons we’ve contemplated elsewhere, convincing them to go home again would take come serious policy rethinks.
Some has been pretty simple, like giving a free trip home and making it FAR more appealing than the real possibility of finding yourself parked in a cell for however long it takes to accommodate repatriation.
One of the pivots we are seeing in the second Trump term involves changing the incentive structure. Cracking down on states that give tax dollars to illegal aliens is one way to dry up the money and give them less incentive to stick around. Investigating legal counsel that fills out bogus asylum claims. And now…?
Now we’ve got Operation Ghost Story.
Instead of just scooping up a few dozen illegal aliens, ICE took some time to look at the people making those jobs possible, including the steps involved in acquiring bogus identification — better known as identity theft.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said a multi-agency operation in Abbeville County led to the detention of 48 people in the U.S. illegally and the State Grand Jury indictment of six defendants.
Wilson said the investigation, dubbed “Operation Ghost Story,” began in fall 2024. He said authorities executed the operation Wednesday at Burnstein Von Seelen Precision Casting in Abbeville. Two managers were arrested on State Grand Jury charges, and ICE detained 48 workers for alleged immigration violations. — FoxCarolina

These false identities make it easier for illegal to game the system. And if they happen to use the Social of living Americans, those victims can find themselves on the hook for massive IRS obligations on money they never received.
If we start putting away the HR guys who make such fraud possible, others might think twice before cutting those corners. They might even flip on some of the other people involved up the chain just to see from being incriminated themselves.
When that incentive structure begins to change…? It becomes more sensible to hire legit American employees than it is to exploit cheap illegal labor.
