An openly bisexual drama teacher at a Georgia high school has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing teens.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that Michael Allan Dendy, the department chair of Washington County High School’s drama department, was arrested and charged with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children as well as possession of child pornography.
He was also hit with three counts of improper contact by a teacher, and identity fraud using the information of a minor over whom he exercised custodial authority, after an investigation was launched in December.
Washington County School superintendent Dr. Rickey Edmond bemoaned the incident, saying, “It’s just been a terrible situation that we’re having to deal with so our focus now is really working with our children and our parents and try to continue on.”
The school board added that it is working with the police on the investigation.
Per WJBF:
“This is a very active investigation therefore we are limited to what we can discuss about it at this time we do anticipate more arrest and we do anticipate more charges on Mr. Dendy” said Sheriff Joel Cochran, Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
” I feel like they did a good job getting it out and letting people know once it hit I think the next few minutes and moments we were able to know what was going on we can all do better just continue to keep working on that part just kind of communicate with the parents and keep the communication line open” Marrio Grant, Parent.
Dendy has apparently been run out of other teaching positions, but it does not seem that he had any charges filed against him until now.
It was also revealed that he had numerous comments sexualizing children on his social media posts, according to The Blaze.
The Blaze added that Dendy is the apparent administrator of a site that posted anonymous accounts of sexual activity by teens.
