Japan Finally Has Enough of China, Lifts its Longtime Restrictions on Military Buildup

Japan has had its voluntary limits on raising an army since losing World War Two to the U.S.A. and allied forces. It has been a nearly 80-year commitment to pacifism.

But with the rise of China and its belligerent claims to own all of the Pacific Rim, not to mention its hate for the United States, Japan finally feels sufficiently threatened at home to jettison its long-held pacifism.

Japan has changed its feelings on raising a larger army.

Per WWNO:

Japan had avoided obtaining strike capabilities, so as not to violate Japan’s post-war constitution, which renounces the right — and the means — to wage war, and to avoid provoking its neighbors.

At a press conference after the documents’ release, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida argued that Japan must keep pace with other nations’ advances in missile technology.

“In such a severe environment,” he said, “counterstrike capability, which can deter an attack, or force an enemy to stop one, is a capability which will become increasingly vital.”

To tell the truth, it really is about time Japan stops sucking at America’s teat to assure its military safety.

We need more military partners in the possible fight against China.

If we are lucky, China was collapse internally like the USSR did.

While it is likely to happen, we can’t count on that.

So, this is a good move.
