The Fauci hearings this time around looked SO much different than back when he so smugly sniped at the Republicans. Especially Rand Paul.
He knew he was lying. We knew he was lying. And he knew that WE knew he was lying. But he couldn’t resist being the center of attention. Fast forward a few years. He’s got his pardon, and a mountain of evidence on government devices shows that even HE didn’t believe his lies, hype, and spin while he was in the big middle of it.
Fauci was warned that Congress would not accept Pleading the Fifth now that the autopen parden had insulated him from wrongdoing during his tenure. But that’s exactly what he did for every single question.
You will notice that his familiar smug grin was not in attendance in the latest of his many hearings. In fact, with all the negative attention he has been getting this week, you might even say he looks humiliated.

And Rand Paul is clearly still pissed about how Fauci lied like a dog about his PERSONAL role in US-taxpayer funded Gain of Function research, which was in all probability directly implicated in the creation of the virus that stopped the world in 2020.
Rand Paul thinks Fauci can be held in contempt for refusing to answer to Congressional oversight, because Fauci’s privilege is no longer recognized due to the autopen pardon. Whether that legal view ultimately holds up is a fight that will almost certainly be brought before the court.

But that’s hardly the only legal jeopardy Mr. Fauci faces at the moment. In direct response to the hearing, in which he invoked the 5th 111 times, Rand Paul was not the only one seeking legal recourse in response to the stonewalling.

Since the Biden Autopen pardon has no effectiveness at the State level, several states are looking into criminal culpability of various kinds. The document dump showing the vast difference between his policy prescription and his own understanding of the relevant facts will be important evidence for whatever may come.

As always, innocent until proven guilty, and there is a long and difficult path between an investigation and a conviction… but after everything we’ve learned about his reckless endangerment of lives while he basked in the worship of the coastal elite and their media enablers? It’s a small step down the road of accountability.
To say nothing of any many versions of class action suits that may spring up seeking redress from how he made money hand over fist while he threw the public to the wolves.
Let us not forget how he left our elderly to die in hospital beds. Alone.
